Dr. Francis Omujal is a Senior Research Officer at the Natural Chemotherapeutics Research Institute (NCRI) in Uganda and the ABS Project Coordinator. He leads bioprospecting initiatives with Batwa Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs) in Kisoro, Rubanda, and Kanungu districts, integrating traditional knowledge into scientific research. Dr. Omujal oversees Access and Benefit-Sharing (ABS) agreements to ensure equitable benefits from Ugandas genetic resources while promoting sustainable use of biodiversity.
