Simeo Bwango serves as Research and Evaluation Manager at Mash Research Africa, where he oversees the design, monitoring, and evaluation of projects across the health, agriculture, and environment sectors. His role requires familiarity with international policy frameworks, including the CBD and the Nagoya Protocol, particularly where research involves biodiversity or traditional knowledge. Simeo ensures that research methodologies comply with ethical standards, national regulations, and ABS requirements. He is conversant with how PIC and MAT should be integrated into project design, ensuring communities and local knowledge providers are protected and benefit fairly. His evaluation expertise enables him to assess whether ABS processes are effectively implemented within projects. By embedding ABS indicators into evaluation frameworks, Simeo strengthens accountability and helps projects demonstrate compliance with Ugandas obligations under the CBD and Nagoya Protocol. He has participated in social impact assessments and conflict analyses, particularly in protected areas, and the findings have consistently indicated that resource sharing is a significant concern.
